20111120-Sunday Busy Sunday

Hey All:

Ever feel a slight modification to a popular song and you have the title for you day. That is where I was this Sunday. After the events of Saturday, a fairly grueling day, we continued the pace and accelerated the pace. So let us begin.

After a very restless night on Saturday night, I was awoken at 4 a.m. Since I had only gone to be at midnight, I was concerned about the alertness of my brain. I went to the back of the house and sat in the dark for about 45 minutes. I calmed myself and finally became drowsy. I went back to bed only to be awoken again at 7. I decided that it was not worth trying to get back to sleep and got up and took a shower. Susan was exhausted from worrying about her dad, and I told her to go back to sleep and rest until it was time to get the kids up for church.
So at 7:50 I was off to the Hospital. My worry from the night was unfounded. I got there and Dale was awake and talkative. Susan's mom arrived at the same time and we sat and chatted until 9:50 when I had to leave to get the family for church. Now you might ask why I wanted to go to church on Sunday when our plate was so full, but it becomes obvious when you realize Sunday was Parkers first day to Acolyte.

He is the cute one in the middle. What is great about that photo is that Parker is the same age as everyone else in the photo. Gosh he is tall. So we attended church, where I really prayed for God's intervention into Dale's health. I am not expecting a cure, but just make him want to live, make him desire to go on. I know he has outlived a lot of his friends, and that his road is rough, but I really want my children to have a grandfather!!!!

So when church ended at 12:15 we were off to the house to change and get ready for the AHS volleyball banquet. By 1:15 we were off to the Domain. Susan, Marietta and myself. Parker got to play at home until later. We arrived at 1:40 and it was pretty full. Lots of girls and families. While it was a bit different it was fun. Susan and I sat with the JV parents while we watched the slideshow and chatted about the girls and coaches. Lots of information both new and old. The meal was nice and we enjoyed the food.

The banquet then had the awards. Starting with the Freshman white team and ending with the Varsity. I was mostly concerned with the Freshman Maroon which was marietta's team. There were three awards given to individual players. MVP-Emily Mawer, MOJO-Hannah Stinston, and MIP-Marietta Wise. While Coach Corelett is a really bad speaker and a pretty bad coach we had to point out to Marietta that she was one of 3 picked out to be honored. Out of the 8 other girls who could have been MIP she was the one selected, irrelavent that Corelett did a poor job stating anything she was selected.

So Corelett in 5 mintues managed to insult the entire freshman team from the year before. Saying this years team was the best she had ever had. She then awarded the 3 awards, while insulting both Marietta and Hannah. Finally culminating in stating that Emily was her "friend". While I am not sure this is the best way to describe a relationship between a coach and player or teacher and student. It was wrong! I am worried that she may not have realized how badly she put her foot into her mouth. All the way around Marietta got the Most Improved Player. So I am happy about that. Now the question arises did she get the award for some strange and unrelated reason?

So this banquet lasted until 5:10. We left quickly and headed home. Where we quickly changed to attend the Goss Johnson wedding at Westwood CC. We got there at 5:38, less than 10 minutes late, I am so proud of us, and we were dressed. While I should have worn a time, it was not the end of the world.
The wedding was beautiful, and I am show happy for the bride. She deserves to be happy and I hope Harry is also happy now. We got home around 8 and collapsed into our beds. We were so tired that we barely managed 10 before forcing the kids into bed. Then of course the ugliness started. Marietta could not go to sleep, so she guilted Susan into lying in the bed with her. It was 11:30 before Susan got to bed. Have to figure out how to break that cycle! It is hard on Susan and only encourages Marietta to take advantage of Susan's natural Mother's guilt.

Well that is my life so far. Not a exciting but very busy. A Sunday, busy Sunday.
