He Has Risen
Today is the day we as Christians mark the rebirth of Jesus. So our sayings range from "Happy Easter" to "He has risen". My family uses "He has risen" with the response, "He has risen indeed". Part of the faith, so I say to you "He has Risen".
I may not be totally in your face type christian, but I do believe and know in my heart that one day we will all be reunited with our loved ones and with Jesus.
Interesting Sermon takeaway
Today's sermon was soul nourishing and helped a lot. An interesting takeaway was the idea of having to sum up your life in 6 words. I pondered this as several funny ones were read and made comment by the preacher. In the end I came up with "Son, Husband, Father, Reborn in Christ". I believe that represents the 4 parts of my life quite nicely. I will let someone else assign meaning.
Primary Results
The March 26th primary results are in. Since it was only the Democrats lets see the Count.
Sanders won Washington, Alaska and Hawaii. By over 70% in each state. Let that sink in sports fans. The total of 173 delegates were to be selected with Hawaii still to assign 4 and Washington holding onto 74 more. Total assigned were 56 for Sanders and 35 for Clinton. In the Superdelegates category, that ignore the voters the result was 1 for Sanders and 19 for Clinton. Clinton garnered less than 30% of the vote in any of these states yet got a 19 to 1 return on delegates. Is there something fishy here? I ask you this simply as I do the math. Sanders narrowed the gap by 21 , but the difference should end up being narrowed by 70. Strange bed fellows eh?
Basketball
Well shoot!!! Kansas did not show up with their A game last night. Since Villinova won, I am going to guess they will take it all. Surprising how the team fell apart. Maybe over confident. I do believe theirs was the hardest bracket. If Villinova takes it all that will prove the point. Oh, well time will tell. I am out of all possible wins. Darn it.
Math
Wow, surprised myself today by solving a Integral calculus problem for a friend. It has been 35 years since I have done one, not a lot of call in my jobs since school and was able to successfully remember how to reverse engineer a derivative. That is a special something for me. Old brain must still function a little. Of course I want to thank the "Google" for reminding me that f' (f prime) was the value for integral. I always remember it as Lamda. That part is foggy....30 years foggy.
Closing note
Sanders had a bird land during one of his speeches. Pretty awe inspiring. I keep coming back to the same point over and over again. Do I like Sanders so much because he paints a picture of the future that is pleasant while the other candidates paint one that is bleak? It seems that Sanders if for things while most others are against things. I believe in the end that is why we are drawn to someone. Do they feed our fears or our yearnings.
As I have said before, destruction is easy, building new is hard. No one likes change, I am the poster child for this statement, but in the end it is change that pushes us forward. Without change would the US have dreamed of going to the moon? It has been 47 years since we were last on that hunk of rock. Why? Think of what we could have discovered and done in those 47 years if we had not stopped dreaming outward.
We talk about walls between us and the rest of the world. Why? In the end we are going to die. We will be dust. It says so in the bible, "All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again." Think about it. The richest person in the recorded history of man is Mansa Musa, a devout Muslim. That is right sports fans, a Muslim. He build education and mosques across Africa during his lifetime. Education and religious centers. At least he got it right, but his heirs have not wealth, no power. The same will hold true for all wealth and power today. In 500 years will anyone still know the Waltons, the Gates, etc... Power is fleeting, we know this because those whose names live on in our collective history, Jesus, Budha, Ali, Muhammed, etc are not really people of power.
Final Question
Think back 100 years, 1916, who was the most famous person.
Think back 500 years to 1516.
Think back 1,000 years to 1016.
Think back 2,000 years to 16 A.D.
Think back 5,000 years to 3,000 B.C.
Now think back to 2015. Who do you think is the most famous person?
History is not made the rich and powerful, but of those who change the world. Let us hope for people who change it for the better.
