Easter Monday

March 28th 2016

Today is Easter Monday.  That means the banks and financial institutions in Europe are closed.  Interesting that the area that believes less in the christian god gets the most christian of holidays off from work.

As a christian, I can tell you Easter is the highest of all holidays.  It beats Christmas by several orders of magnitudes.  Think about it.  Without his death why would we celebrate his birth.  Sort of the crux of the faith.

Watership Down

Anyone remember this movie?  Did anyone read the book?  In England on Channel 5, they aired the movie.  Lot's of people thought it was a wonderful easter bunny movie.  Did they not check out the reviews, synopsis, a review of the book?  It is a violent book and the movie, while not 100% true to the book, does hold some of the violence.  Welcome to life kids.  I saw this movie in 1978 when it was released and at 16 it bothered me.  It still does, but of course I had read the book.  Maybe parents should understand what they are about to view prior to putting little Johnny or Jane in front of the TV.  Oh wait, that would suppose personal responsibility.

Politics

At least the media is still kissing off Sanders.  It continues to kiss the every changing Hillary Clinton.  As she morphs into whatever will get her elected.  Please just pick a stand and stay!  I want to vote for you, but you do not paint the future, you say what you are against.  While I am a 54 year old white male, I keep finding myself wanting to view the future as a place of hope.  Please take a stand for the future and not a stand against the past.  I state again, anyone can tear down, it takes a visionary to talk about the future.  Please move towards that idea.
On the right side, the GOP is still espousing nothing but divide and hatred.  It is so easy to be fearful of what is different and strange, but were we not all different and strange at some time to some one?  I know that I was that way.  Please guys, stop being mean.  Ronald Reagan, while not always right, at least had a vision of the future that was moving forward.  He believed in marching to the future, not standing in place.  That future resulsuperted in "Star Wars", did not happen. The fall of communism (That is not the same as socialism folks), did happen.  The encouragement of the inventor class, that one work.  The trickle down economics, sorry that is a failure beyond description.  So you see not everything that Reagan did was perfect, but the USA moved forward.

Georgia and HB 757

For the first time in a while something interesting happened in Georgia.  HB 757 was on track to become law in the State.  Today Nathan Deal, the governor, vetoed the bill.  The state is mostly conservative.  There is no doubt that the Majority of the state supported the "Religious freedom" act, which would have allowed anyone to deny service or jobs to anyone they chose if they cited religious reasons (Not a perfect summary, but a gist version).  When some well know companies said they would reduce their state presence and not allow convention or meetings to occur inside the state, people noticed.  The NFL then said there would be "NO" super bowl held inside the borders.  Then Hollywood, who should have little influence in the heart of Dixie, said they would move production and new films, included Disney, the Guardian of the Galaxy production, Walking Dead, Orange is new black,
As the Georgia right starts complaining about these heavy handed tactics, I would point out it was the market making there desires known.  How can that ever be wrong from the GOP point of view? Just saying.

Batman vs Superman

My son and I watched this film on opening weekend.  Overall, good movie.  We enjoyed it and don't care about what others say.  I would give it a thumbs up.  It was a good romp and Ben Affleck does a good job as a world weary dark knight.  Superman was well done.  It is hard to act correctly in that role.  Think about it.  Who could have done a better job.  Good job Mr. Cavill.  I think acting that humble but not too humble.  To be aware of nothing hurting you, and knowing you will out live all would be difficult.  I think you did it well.

The Sum Up

Well Oil is moving around $40 again. WTI is $39.23 and BC is $40.07.  So what does this mean.  I am not sure, but I think it is about to drop again.  Down to the lower $30's.  It is warming up, spring is in the air and we are still overproducing.  Cushing has 66,233 BBL and rig count is down to 464.  It is amazing that 1 year ago there were 1,048 rigs active in the USA.  The idle rig count is scary.
So is it strange my daughters friends in Auburn are now following my Snapchat story?  I have added 3 new people in the past week, which for those who know me is really strange.

Thats all for today sports fans.  Talk to you soon.
