20110825-Saturday in Review

Yesterday was a rough day. We had to attend a funeral for George Williford Jr. While the service was beautiful, and the minister did a great job, I do not think he knew George well, George's son "Boots" had the entire church weeping. His eulogy and stories were so heartfelt, so touching, so loving that I do not believe there was a dry eye in the house.
The roughness happens due to the extremely high heat and advanced age of Susan's parents, who also attended. Yesterday's high in Austin, Texas touched 110! Yes that is the 72nd day of triple digits for our fair city. With Susan's parents both in their late 70's and her father needing portable oxygen 24/7 and to be wheelchaired to most event's, I have become the designated pack horse. I am complaining a bit, but I do love the man, and the fact that he gave me Susan more than makes up for any inconvenience I endure. He is really a fantastic soul, but in 110 heat, while either holding him up to walk stairs or pushing him around, it makes for a hot and sweaty son-in-law! Thanks for letting me vent.
After the funeral we went to a gathering of friends to remember George. This was very nice, and I did enjoy my conversations with Ben, Mary Ann, Bill and Boots(George III). It is strange that he is a George III as is my brother.
Once we left there, I took my in-laws home, and returned to my house where we spent a quite evening.
Parker took his pulmozene without complaint, and promised no issues with the starting of the 28 day cayston cycle. Cross your fingers this holds true.
On a personal note, we watched the new Doctor Who episode. It was actually quite enjoyable. We learned quite a lot about River Song, and her back story. I will say most of the plot twists were great, but did we really need the whole Hitler background story?
Well that is about all. I did not get much else done, but all in all, it was a good day!
Final note:
“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. Christopher Robin to Pooh”

I am trying to instill this on both of my children. I believe it might be a great philosophy.
